A few months ago, I had this inkling to put more of my work online for people to purchase. I have countless hard drives that include thousands upon thousands of images. I’ve had a couple people try and help me categorize them in the past, but that has proven to be almost an insurmountable task due to the volume of photos I have.
My biggest issue: SO MANY PHOTOS, SO MANY SUBJECTS
So as part of a brand reinventing, I changed my original handle on instagram from my beloved WOOTD, to southwestsabby. I know that has been my identity for so long, but I feel most people didn’t know what WOOTD meant and it was only special to those closest to me. By the way, its nothing serious, but more of a sound from Star Wars. One of my colleagues called me Southwest Sabby and I couldn’t get it out of my head and I swithced my handle after months of contemplation.
But I think the name SouthwestSabby actually works, as I spend most of my time in the great American Southwest. Almost constantly I’m in Texas, Arizona, & California. When I’m in those areas I tend to take lots of photos as I’m obsessed with the landscape in those states.
Last year in December, one of my friends specifically reached out to me and told me she loves my work and it needs to be sold. Right around the same time I was thinking i need to get my images out there, my friend reaches out to me–someone who I highly respect.
There will be growing pains, things will change, but for now I’m doing my best to get my work out there. I’m not really even sure of there reason, but I’ve been scared to share my work for so long. This is a huge step in my journey and I’m finally doing it.
A few weeks ago I printed some of my recent favorite southwest prints onto canvas. They vary in size from 8×10 to 12×36 (pano), but I’m happy to announce I got them made. All of them are signed and individually unique.
