Remembering David: A Tribute to a Jiu Jitsu Legend

This fierce competitor, coach and friend is gone too soon. He will be missed. Rest in paradise Banta.

Last week my friend Victor told me the news of David’s passing and I was shook. Guy had everything going for him, and boom gone from a tragic car accident.

Victor knew that we I DP’d a shoot with V.O.W. BJJ in Austin Texas in 2023. In that footage was an interview of David and a bunch of BROLL of people training at the gym. He asked me to make a video in David’s honor to share with the world. I didn’t know David personally and only got to me him this day when I shot this interview. You can watch it below.

As I edited this video of David, I began to learn a lot about him. I felt his passion for coaching and growing as a person through the MMA and Jiu Jitsu Vehicles. Always wanting to do new techniques and have a hunger to be the best, but also a good person. I also noticed how he’s respected by his colleagues and his work speaks for itself.

So good at what he does that no one wants to go against him. A true legend. This one’s for you.
